The second core innovation of Datomia® is Data AtomsTM, which render metadata and database servers obsolete.

In order to properly execute NAS and erasure coding regimes, alternative Alternative platforms to Datomia are required ® have to maintain the relationship between the original files, the slices, and the data chunks, as well as its the name, size, hash and various attributes, in order to execute NAS and erasure coding properly.

A typical object storage implementation looks like this one:

All of this overhead has typically required

Usually, this has required an overhead of database and metadata servers, which we believe are significant points of weakness in security. They are also This infrastructure has also been a considerable infrastructure expense to the organization.

Datomizer® architecture significantly simplifies storage implementation process, without compromising data security, integrity, protection and storage performance

About Data Atoms

Instead, all the information about the data is encrypted at the client and stored securely within Data AtomsTM that are dispersed by the Datomizer® across storage nodes. The additional footprint is minor, and this eliminates the need for a dedicated database. The erasure codec replicates generates various types of Data AtomsTM, which are spread across all the storage nodes deployed for a vault installation.

Data DNA®

Using our patent pending InformationDNA Data DNA® technology, metadata is encoded into Data AtomsTM in a way that is only visible and retrievable by the data owner. That's because InformationDNA That’s because Data DNA® is an abstraction of erasure-coded metadata and NAS metadata, dispersed between different storage nodes, with a secret key-sharing methodology.

This allows Datomia® to provide a simple NAS solution with all advantages of erasure-coded object storage, such as security, unlimited scalability, speed and data resiliency.

Data AtomsTM Eliminate the Need for Storing Extra Copies of Data

Traditional NAS storage systems use RAID systems to provide data resiliency, and write or replicate multiple copies to different geographical locations to ensure availability during component failures. Datomia® erasure-coded object storage eliminates the need for storing extra copies of data. It provides data protection through its patent pending Failed Node Protection Technology, which has only a 40%-60% overhead. In comparison, there is a 300-600% overhead with traditional NAS systems.

All of the Data Atoms that are TM generated from the original data are connected to each other through their shared InformationDNAData DNA® and connected to neighbor Data AtomsTM through metadata. The Data AtomsTM are uploaded to geographically dispersed storage nodes of the user's user’s choosing. They contain links to the vault snapshots, as well as the current state of data blocks used for the snapshots.

This provides significantly enhanced security and gives the vault a high tolerance for node failure.
