The Datomia® system protects both data and metadata equally. It is inherently more reliable than traditional storage systems. By applying the company's unique Information Dispersal Technology information dispersal technology to slice and disperse InformationDNA, Data DNA® single points of failure are eliminated.

As data is distributed evenly across all storage nodes, metadata can scale linearly and infinitely as new nodes are added. This reduces any scalability bottlenecks and increases performance and reliability.

Datomia's ®’s unique approach delivers the powerful combination of analytics and storage in a geographically distributed single system allowing organizations to efficiently scale their Big Data environments to tens of petabytes and even exabyte scale.

To meet the reliability target, Datomia® would generate 16 Data AtomsTM and store those data chunks in such way that only 10 Data AtomsTM would be needed to perfectly recreate the data. This means the system could tolerate six simultaneous outages or failures and still provide seamless access to the data.

Support for

Multiple Vaults

Datomia® now supports multiple vaults that can be clustered and synchronized. With multiple machines in in different geographical locations, this means if one machine in a cluster fails, another machine in the cluster can continue doing the work.

Comparing Datomia® and RAID

To meet the reliability target for one petabyte with RAID, the data would be stored using RAID-6, and replicated two, three or even four times, possibly using a combination of disk/tape. The raw storage would increase by .33 for the RAID-6 configuration, and then be replicated three times for a raw storage of four times, totaling four petabytes. Comparing these two solutions side by side for one petabyte of usable storage, information dispersal requires 60% the raw storage of RAID-6 and replication on disk, which translates to 60% of the cost.

When comparing the raw storage requirements, it is apparent that clear both RAID-5 and RAID-6 require a greater amount of raw storage per terabyte as the amount of data increasescompared to the Datomia® system. The beauty of Information Dispersal is that as storage increases, the cost per unit of storage doesn't increaseyour storage efficiency gain measured in terabytes increases too, while meeting the same reliability target.
